When our client asked us to transform the iconic McEwan Hall for their all-singing, all-dancing 1920’s themed event, we were excited to create a backdrop straight from the roaring twenties! Our skilled team faced two main challenges: timing and infrastructure. As access to the venue for set-up was only available on the day of the event, creative thinking and clever design were imperative to integrate our technology into the fabric of the building whilst dealing with the venue restrictions that mean all PA, lighting and video equipment needed to be ground-stacked.
We designed and installed a PA system, cleverly concealed by risers, and integrated an LED panel into the pillars of the organ to provide an impressive backdrop for the band. Our Sound Technicians used ArrayCalc to deliver rich, clear sound from the 20-piece live band and DJ. Our experienced Lighting Designer created a customised lighting setup of uplighters and fixtures to illuminate the beautiful detail of the 17 enormous pillars and various decorative murals within the room. Key details such as vintage-style Robe picklePatt tungsten pendant lights were positioned on the stage to provide a striking finishing touch to a hugely successful evening. Our client was delighted with the outcome and booked several more events for the near future.
