It is always a joy to design shows for Bauer Media’s Radio Forth as they are really open to innovative and imaginative ideas, and allow us almost total creative freedom. Their annual show at the Edinburgh Fringe is no different and we relished the brief of creating a vibrant setup within Edinburgh Playhouse.
Time is always the biggest challenge for this gig – we have a very small window to produce a show for 36 acts which take place over two days. Rig pre-planning and pre-production is therefore essential to the success of this particular brief. The video element of the show was central to the design and we used a 6m x 3m screen to display the main content, along with striking stripes rigged at 0.5m intervals on custom seals. Lighting for a variety show is always reliant on the flexibility of both kit and operators, and we had the very best of both. Our Lighting Designer delivered an excellent show using our in-house Robe stock of DL4s, 600+, 150s and MegaPointes. Our d&b series PA again proved why it is an industry leading manufacturer requested by many of the worlds most famous and demanding entertainment acts, providing quality sound from stage to balcony. Our client was particularly thrilled with this year’s dynamic design.
